This mattress is absolutely heavenly. The moment I climb in, I'm cradled in a way that leaves me feeling weightless. There are zero points of pressure and my chronically aching, lower back seems to realign and calms down. The total body relief that this mattress provides is simply unparalleled by any other mattress I've tried including my previous, from a top memory foam competitor. The Blue Max 5000 Elite's "TempActiv Max Gel Memory Foam" and "Touch Fabric" create an amazing cooling sensation that regulates your body temperature and keeps you from overheating. Overheating was a major issue with my last mattress.
Regarding support, honestly, I was a bit hesitant to go with a "firm" mattress because I have always preferred softer but, a firmer mattress was suggested to help my back which was paramount.
Luckily, the 5000 Elite features Serta's new "Air Suspension Technology" which gets full credit for creating a feeling of weightlessness with complete support. In this case "firm" definitely does not mean "hard" so don't let that dissuade your consideration. You truly get the best of both worlds with this one.
Now, about the base becase isn't that what it's all about? My mind is blown by the amazing abilities of the Serta Motion Custom II. This pairs seamlessly with my Blue Max 5000. They have thought of absolutely every feature possible to ensure your ultimate, personalized comfort and convenience making leaving your bed the hardest thing you'll do all day. At least you can spend the rest of your day in great anticipation of bedtime!
You can control everything from the sleek, back-lit remote that can magnetically stick to your frame for easy access. You have the ability to adjust your leg and head levels to a custom fit or chose from several preprogrammed settings. I'm in love with the "Zero G" button which smoothly shifts you into a position that feels exactly as named. As if that isn't already impressive, this base comes with 6 built in massage settings. Yes, you will unwind and be lulled into the best sleep by customizing your ideal level out of 3 intensities, designating specific target areas or going full body. You may go as long you like or chose from 10, 20, or 30 min timers. It's surprisingly quiet too, big bonus for apartment dwellers like myself.
This base comes with a battery backup system and 2 USB charging ports on each side towards the head so you don't even have to worry about losing power or keeping your phone or tablet charged while sleeping, working, or relaxing with some Nexflix.
Sometimes it's the little things in life that really get me and with this base, I love that the entire thing lights up, underneath, on remote demand. It looks so beautifully classy and gives just the right amount of glow that I find perfect for bedtime wind down. It's also perfect for couples on different schedules because you could definitely sleep with on, unbothered but, it still provides enough light for someone else to navigate the room.
I'm also in love with the way this base looks in general. It has several leg options to choose from so customizing to fit the rest of your decor is simple. I believe you could go without legs, as well if you prefer a platform look. Mine has a lovely, chocolate, suede-like fabric on all edges that makes it look just like a regular modern style base. I was happy to learn that it came with brackets that will allow me to still use my current headboard. They've designed this so well that you would not even know that this was an adjustable foundation, they've certainly come a long way.
Another great feature besides using the remote, I was able to download the SleepTracker app which, in addition to providing a virtual remote, it actually uses sensors to gage your sleep and help you hit goals if you choose to set them. You may set alerts and reminders to keep you on track. Set up was very easy and I'm excited to see how I can improve my sleep using the data collected.
I sincerely could not be happier with the Blue Max 5000 Elite and the Motion Custom II Foundation. Sleep is critical for your body's ability to heal itself and maintain optimal health.
